Milton Vinyl Replacement Windows

Energy-efficient windows and doors reduce heating and cooling costs and help the environment by putting less demand on existing power supplies. New technologies like vinyl-clad frames and polyurethane fill increase the insulation and reduce heat transfer. In addition, these replacements can increase the value of the home.

Replace Old Models with Energy-Efficient Windows and Doors

Old windows, especially those with single panes and metal frames, let through a lot of heat. Newer models, and Energy Star models specifically, are generally double or even triple glazed. This reduces heat transfer. Double- and triple-glazed windows with argon, krypton or other gases injected between the panes are even more efficient. Metal frames also conduct a lot of heat in and out of the house. Vinyl-clad and wood frames, by contrast, do not conduct heat as well and therefore reduce heat loss.

New doors with insulating material like polyurethane in the core of the door also reduce heat transfer. Glass panes in doors should also be double-glazed. Finally, improved fit in the door frame reduces draft and improves temperature control. Some new doors have magnetic strips in the jambs to improve closure and contain more efficient weatherstripping.
