Window Replacement in Hamilton

Hamilton has some of the oldest housing in the region, and older houses rarely take off-the-shelf windows. The Door Centre is a family-owned window and door company, founded in 1981, with a showroom just up the QEW in Burlington. We supply and install replacement windows sized and finished for the house you actually have.

Hamilton's housing, from the lower city to the Mountain

The lower city, neighbourhoods like Westdale, Kirkendall and Durand, is full of pre-war brick homes. Many have thick masonry walls, some have arched openings, and plenty still have original wood sashes or old aluminum inserts. The Mountain has large areas of postwar bungalows, side-splits and back-splits above the Escarpment brow. Stoney Creek, Ancaster, Dundas and Waterdown have been part of the City of Hamilton since 2001. They mix older village cores with newer subdivisions, many still on builder windows.

The Door Centre serves all of Hamilton, plus Milton, Burlington, Oakville, Mississauga, and Toronto.

Made for older brick homes

Old brick walls are deep, and old openings are rarely square. We handle that with primed jambs up to 10 inches deep, brickmolds from 1/8 inch to 3 inches, arched and shaped windows for curved-top masonry openings, single- and double-hung windows with SDL bars, and real wood interiors in pine, oak or cherry, plus 50 standard exterior colours or a custom match.

Quieter, warmer rooms

Many Hamilton homes sit close to busy roads, rail lines or downtown traffic. Triple-pane glass with LoE 366 and argon fill helps with cold winters and also helps reduce outside noise. Up on the Mountain, where wind comes across the Escarpment brow, a tight-sealing casement or awning window on the exposed side makes a noticeable difference.

Brands and options

We install premium replacement-grade windows from Vinylbilt and Frank by Ostaco, including casement and awning, hung and sliding, fixed, bay and bow, arched and shaped, and tilt-and-turn. Glass comes in dual pane (7/8 inch) or triple pane (1 3/8 inch), with LoE 180, 272, 366 or i89 coatings.
